East End Radio Takes Over CarnivalWaltham Forest Carnival Rescued1 February 2001 -- PRESS RELEASE - 29 Jan 2001 Re Waltham Forest Carnival. East End Radio has taken on the rescue of the very popular Waltham Forest Carnival. The Carnival, which has been a regular yearly event, seemed like it was coming to an end when Bernard and Maureen Morley announced their retirement after 30 years of ever increasing involvement. East End Radio is based in the East End of London, both geographically and in heart. We have actively campaigned over the past years for various causes in and around the East End of London, one of the main ones of which is the establishment of a radio station in The East End, Our involvement in The Carnival goes back a long way, for the past five years or so we have entered musical floats in both the Waltham Forest and Redbridge Carnivals. East End Radio has also provided the Discos and sound systems for the Carnival selection dances and prize giving's, just to name but two of the services we can continue to bring to the Carnival. With the final demise of the Redbridge Carnival last year, and the disappointment that caused the local residents, it seemed a shame to let the Waltham Forest Carnival disappear as well, we at East End Radio thought the least we could do was to try and save it. So we can announce that the Waltham Forest Carnival will be back next year (2002) as normal. Unfortunately because of the time scale, this years Carnival Parade will not now take place, but the entire infrastructure will remain in place, including the Carnival Court, so if you need the girls for your event, then contact us on the number below for details.
